Sports ‘n Science worked with physicist Adam Beehler to develop a “Physics of Basketball” activity for grades 6-8. The activity is designed for informal settings such as after-school and summer programs.
Students learn about the physics of basketball through exploration of the ideas of gravity, spin, bounce, and Newton’s Laws of Motion.
In fall 2013, Sports ‘n Science offered this program to children in a variety of summer camps and recreational settings. Although we are no longer offering this program, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information.
Partners for this program include Higher-Ground Learning, Utah Basketball Camps, Club U (University of Utah), YouthCity, Youth Teaching Youth (Natural History Museum of Utah), and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake.
